Ravi Kaur is coming to Portland

Ravi Kaur is the manager of the International Kundalini Yoga Teachers Association (IKYTA) and was recently at a Yoga Journal conference. She wrote, "They had a booth where you could pose and they would create this cover shot. It didn't take much convincing to do it - the performer in me comes out pretty quickly. I posted it on Facebook and most people thought it was real. That's how much we all want it!"

She will be in town to meet with as many of teachers as she can so she can get know us and learn how IKYTA can support us. There are 2 chances to connect with Ravi on Thursday, May 29 - do one or both! Take a class at Mandala from 10:00am to 11:20am - FREE for those coming to connect with Ravi . After class share a meal or tea next door at Songbird Cafe.

40-day kick off this Sunday

Get ready for White Tantric Yoga by participating in the 40-day sadhana! White Tantric Yoga is happening in Portland on April 19. To prepare for this amazing course we (and you!) are doing 40 days of the "everything kriya": Sat Kriya. How long? Well that's up to you, but the goal is 31 minutes.

Each time you come to Sadhana at Shakti House during this 40-day period the leader will set a timer for 31 minutes. If you have not built up to doing 31 minutes you are strongly encouraged to bring your own timer or stopwatch and practice for shorter periods with rests in between. Please read how to build up to 31 minutes and how to finish your practice.

On Sunday March 9 we are kicking off our 40 days of Sat Kriya at Sadhana (begins at 4am). PLEASE REMEMBER TO TURN YOUR CLOCKS FORWARD BEFORE YOU GO TO BED SATURDAY NIGHT! There will be a pot luck breakfast afterwards and a Panj meeting starting at 7am.

Guru Ram Das' birthday is this Wednesday so we are still chanting together each evening - check the calendar for details.

There is a special sadhana on Wednesday from 3am - 5:45ish. We would love more musicians to come! We will be chanting Dhan Dhan Ram Das Guru for 2.5 hours. Catch the wave of miracles!

Evening chanting will continue through Saturday (Oct 12) at Hari Dass' home beginning 7:30. The address is 161 Furnace St. Lake Oswego, OR. 97034.

What's better than meditating? Meditating in a group, of course! We have another opportunity to get together with one another this month (and technically next month too).

For 11 evenings (September 28 - October 8) leading up to Guru Ram Das' birthday we will chant his praise. Chant Dhan Dhan Ram Das Guru for 31 minutes - even if you can't join the group, chant it on your own!

Known as the Lord of Miracles, the days leading up to his birthday is a powerful time for the fulfillment of prayers and blessings. For 11 days, we gather in each others homes for cozy evenings of prayer, meditation, food and fellowship.

Guru Ram Das inspired the building of the Golden Temple in Amritsar, India.

We are still looking for a few hosts! Please consider opening up your home. If you don't feel comfortable leading the meditation or don't have a recording of the shabad - never fear! We are here to help!

Please join us for a evening of chanting, meditation and story telling with Guru Shabad Singh! A shabad is a hymn or a piece of sacred text that may be chanted kirtan style with devotional music. The man with shabad in his name will be in Portland next Friday at Shakti House.

Experiencing Summer Solstice this year is a celebration of my Saturn return (June 21) and fully embracing my power as a woman, healer, and leader in the community. It will give me strength to shine my Light unapologetically. It will help me let go of false belief systems that have made me hesitant to be awesome. I feel that when I am in this place of remembrance, than I am a mirror to encourage others to do the same. This will be a great place of preparation for my teacher training this fall, continuing to strengthen my leadership skills, and networking to help the continuing growth of KYPDX.

To feel the grace and joy of being one with other women - to embrace the shakti energy and bring it back to all my sangha and students - I have longed to go to women's camp since I heard about it and how Yogi Bhajan felt it was very important for women to attend. I am 62 and entering the wise stage of life: often I am approached by my family or yoga students for advice and knowledge. I feel blessed at this stage of my life, and being able to get even more strength, knowledge and auric strengthening from the camp experience would be a sheer blessing and joy! Sat Nam

Spirit Voyage artist, ASHANA, will be performing at Zen Flow Yoga in Vancouver, WA on September 21st and 22nd! Get ready for healing music, mantra and the celestial sound of the crystal singing bowls. Featured here for the FIRST time, will be music from her new release, The Illuminated Path, the latest offering in Spirit Voyage's celebrated "Meditations for Transformation" series.

I am very excited to share this music with the Kundalini Yoga community of Portland and I extend my warmest invitation to everyone to come to the concert and the activation ceremony. This will be the first time that I will feature the music from The Illuminated Path in a public concert and the Hari Nam Sat Nam meditation. It would be wonderful and my deepest pleasure to have the kundalini yogis from Portland be part of this event to experience kundalini mantra with the crystal singing bowls.
