It's that cozy time of year again. Prior to COVID we would gather at each others' home to chant each evening for 11 nights leading up to Guru Ram Das' birthday. This year we are encouraging everyone to practice on their own at home {see below for a few ideas and playlist} and come out for a potluck and sadhana. Next year we hope to bring back the nightly in-person gatherings.

This season has been described as a powerful time for the fulfillment of prayers and a time of great blessing. One idea is to write your prayers down and add them to special box or container as the 11 days progress. Then, after the birthday sadhana, have a ceremony and burn the prayers, sending them out to the Infinite. Allow the divine healing energy of Guru Ram Das to take care of you and all your troubles!

September wraps up with an Aries Full Moon that is powerful and punchy. This Full Moon is connected to the Aries New Moon and the Aries Solar Eclipse that we had earlier this year. If you think back to the manifestations and intentions you set in March and April, you may begin to see those manifestations in full bloom now. This is the last lunar cycle before Eclipses begin, so we may begin feeling the rumbling of transformation starting to flow in. This is a little bit of a volatile Full Moon in that it carries some fiery energy. We may feel a little headstrong, or our egos may be easily triggered under this Full Moon. It will be important to take a few steps back and assess the situation from a distance before rushing ahead. Chiron, the asteroid known as the wounded healer, is also very active under this Full Moon, shining a light on any healing that is needed in our lives. It seems we are being called to stop playing the victim, to stop feeling sorry for ourselves, and to rise up into our inner warrior.

Each day will begin with 3 slow recitations in call and response style and the remaining time will be devoted to a more rapid recitation.

This Shabad is recited to heal others and to brighten one’s own aura (the first line of defense against illness and attack).

Ravijot Kaur is hosting a Full Moon Meditation on Thursday, Jan 28. Please join in if you feel called - all are welcome. We'll begin at 6:30pm with meditation and have some social time afterwards.

The Shabd Guru  is central to my spiritual path. I like to include elements of my practice and what has inspired me when I teach.  On January 28 we'll practice a short kriya/meditation for the "Elementary Adjustment of the Brain" and then a core alignment meditation, that uses jappa (mantra recitation), for "Keeping You Steady & on the Path."

Setting the intention to break bread as a community with a monthly pulse. So we can SEE each other, KNOW each other and CREATE together.

September 28 - October 8: For 11 days prior to his birthday we chant the shabad Dhan Dhan Ram Das Guru for 31 minutes. This is the Shabad of Miracles. We do this together at each others homes at 7pm. See the CALENDAR to find out where to go each night! If you can't make it, chant on your own when you can!

Monday, October 9: This is the day we celebrate Guru Ram Das Ji's birth, when we have a special sadhana of chanting Dhan Dhan Ram Das Guru for 2 ½ hours in the Amrit Vela. We need people to hold space and lead the chanting (see below)!

Do you need to know the mantra to host?
NO! It would be great if you did of course, but there are tons of fantastic recordings out there. Just check Spirit Voyage or Sikhnet :) Here are the words and translation.

What if my place is super small?
No worries! We'll be cozy :) and as much as we'd love it if more people showed up, usually it's only a small handful.

What's the time commitment?
Be ready to go at 7pm and expect people to leave around 8pm. Usually we tune in and get started around 7:10 :)

How do I sign up? So glad you asked!

~best phone number if someone is coming and gets lost/is running late
~anything else someone should know (any tricks to finding the right door, where to park, if you have pets...)!!
You will be responsible for welcoming people, tuning in and providing the mantra to chant along with (usually a recording but live is awesome too!)

2) Help lead the special sadhana on Monday, October 9. In the past we have played a recording and then we have 5 different people hold the space for a half an hour. Stay tuned for the location and more details!

3) Show up! Yes, your presence is powerful so please come to as many chanting events as you can - this will amplify the effect for you and for all those there.
