KYPDX Stands in Solidarity
Like you, we here at KYPDX have been shocked and saddened by the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmad Arbery, and so many others tragically killed by police officers. These crimes are just the tip of the iceberg of institutional racism that pervades our world. We unequivocally state that Black Lives Matter. As yogis, we believe that we should live what we practice: the Unity of all souls, the equality of all souls. Yet, the current state of the world does not match this philosophy, and we must actively take steps to end systemic racial oppression.
How can our organization, KYPDX, a 5O1.c3 non-profit, become more socially just? How can we support this critical movement that is happening in Portland? In the United States? In the world? We want to hear more voices, diverse voices, and work in action together. This could include: creating space for more diversity on our Board of Directors, marching together, making phone calls, or fundraising for the many incredible black led organizations on the front lines of this movement. Our collective effort will no doubt include our prayers. Prayers are powerful catalysts for change - now is the time to rise up into action fueled by prayer.
